Weymouth Scout hut transformed by Aster Group volunteers

A team of eight volunteers from Dorset based landlord and developer Aster Group has given the home of Weymouth West Air Scout Group a much needed makeover.

Led by employee experience partner, Julie Cridland, the volunteers worked together to bring a new lease of life to the outdated Scout hall off Granby Close.

The revamp was part of the company’s Aster Foundation volunteering scheme, which is designed to encourage colleagues to take part in local community projects. The team gave the main hall and benches a fresh lick of paint and repainted the ceiling in fresh white tones.

John Naylor, Chair of Weymouth West Air Scout Group, said: “On behalf of the Scout group and the local community I’d like to say a big thank you to the staff at Aster for volunteering their time.

“The redecoration has made a massive difference to the hall; it is now a much brighter and more welcoming space.

“Help with projects like this really does make a difference to community groups like ours and we’re so pleased with the finished result.”

Julie Cridland added: “I was delighted so see how many colleagues got involved with this project. I’ve been a volunteer at Weymouth Scout Group for a number of years and the work it does is really close to my heart; I’m really pleased to see just how much we can achieve as a community when we work together.”

Aster is committed to supporting its local communities and gives its employees the opportunity to volunteer 150 working days each year to support projects just like this one.
