Aster Group raises nearly £20k for Cancer Research UK

Through initiatives like London’s Shine Night Walk, Woof Walkies and Walk All Over Cancer, housing association, Aster Group has raised a total of £19,300 for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) in just nine months.

Since announcing CRUK as its Charity of the Year back in February this year, Aster has completed several challenges in order to raise money for the charity. The most recent seeing over 100 colleagues take part in the Walk All Over Cancer challenge in October; walking over 3 million steps and raising £2,412 alone.

Nick Johnson Cancer Research UK’s local fundraising manager for the south, said: “Cancer survival has doubled since the 1970 and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of this. We have only been able to achieve this thanks to the dedication and generosity of employees and organisations like Aster Group without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”

As part of its commitment to give back to the local community, the business match funds colleague fundraising but double match funds anything raised for CRUK to maximise the donations.

Rachel Credido, group people and transformation director at Aster said: “We’re really proud to be raising such vital funds for Cancer Research UK and to support our people with their fundraising efforts.

“We believe that giving back is really important whether as an individuals or as a business. So it’s been inspiring to see the dedication and commitment shown by our colleagues to take part in all sorts of challenges to raise the money CRUK so desperately needs.”
