Aster employees step up to the challenge

Almost 100 colleagues from local housing association Aster Group have signed up to a challenge to make a virtual journey across the world, while getting fitter and boosting wellbeing together.

The Virgin Pulse Destination Go is a new team challenge that sees people clock up their daily steps and at the same time focus on their own health needs. By keeping track of the steps they have walked and exercised together they can connect with other colleagues in a nine week virtual race across the globe.

With many employees continuing to work from home due to Covid-19, the challenge is a great way to stay in touch and encourage each other to meet exercise goals and make healthy choices every day.

Sacha Harris, head of Employee Experience at Aster, said: “One of the ways we have kept connected during the pandemic is by getting active. Over the past few months our teams have embraced technology, carried out group workouts online, taken part in mindfulness and emotional resilience sessions and even got into fancy dress.

“This challenge supports colleague’s holistic wellbeing and provides tips on how they can form healthy habits.

“We know that exercise has a huge impact on lots of things, better sleep, more focus and feeling more energised, which is especially important at the moment, so it’s great to see so many of our colleagues signing up to take charge of their own wellbeing and get involved in a bit of healthy competition.”

At the start of the year, 88 Aster colleagues took part in a similar challenge Virgin Pulse Global, walking a total of 88,675,131 steps, the same as four times around the world and losing a combined 121kg.
