Will talks about his apprenticeship journey
We caught up with Will Green, to find out a little bit more about his apprenticeship journey. Will changed career direction in his early 30s, switching from a career in finance to become an apprentice carpenter.
What brought you to Aster?
I was drawn to Asters strong reputation for running quality apprenticeship schemes across a multitude of trades.
How did you find your apprenticeship journey?
My apprenticeship journey has been diverse, challenging and highly enjoyable.
What did you enjoy the most?
The most enjoyable part of my journey has been the colleagues and customers I’ve had the privilege to meet and learn from.
Why did you decide on an apprenticeship and not any other route?
For me personally, I chose an apprenticeship route as it provides you with hands on experience working alongside trade professionals, as well as being able to earn while you learn.
What would you say new to apprentices just starting out their journey?
To new apprentices I’d say, get stuck in with every opportunity that’s presented to you… listen to your mentors and colleagues, and most importantly enjoy it!
What are your plans for the future?
I’m excited for my future with Aster, as I plan to continue developing my various skill sets while looking down the potential route of surveying.
Will was ‘highly commended’ by the judges for the Apprentice of the Year category in the Direct Works awards, won Exeter College’s Inspiring Journey Award and was recently shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year, at the NHMF Maintenance Awards 2022.
