Young Morgan starts apprentice programme

Morgan,16 from Frome has been accepted into local housing association Aster Groups popular apprentice programme. After successfully completing a virtual assessment centre, Morgan will be working towards becoming a qualified electrician.

Morgan was inspired to apply after a visit by an Aster employee to fix a gas boiler in his parents’ home: “He told me about the apprenticeships available and what a great opportunity it was to train for worthwhile career. I can’t wait to get started.”

Aster has been running its apprenticeship scheme since 2010. Aimed at attracting new talent into the business and developing a motivated, skilled, and qualified workforce, the Group is currently supporting 36 apprentices, with some embarking on a new qualification alongside their full-time role with Aster.

Hugh Lambourne, Aster Group operations director (Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall), said: “Our programme means apprentices have the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced, skilled trades people and earn a wage while gaining their qualification. It’s great to see those who have completed the programme go on to make a real difference to our customers and their homes.”
