Dorset apprentices receive early Christmas present from local building supplier

Five Dorset apprentices have been sponsored by Bradfords Building Supplies to help give them a kick start in their new career.

Apprentices from local housing association Aster Group, Alex Meikle, Harriet Ward, Owen Thomas, Mason McMann, Emily Screen, and newly qualified Harry Dewland all received a range of tools and toolboxes at Bradford’s site in Blandford Forum.

Harriet, 20 and an apprentice plumber said: “It was so lovely to receive the help we have from Bradfords. Since starting my time at Aster I am in and out of Bradfords most days, it is amazing to have a merchant not only supply us with materials but support the start of all of our careers.’’

Neil Shardlow, Aster head of operations for Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall said: “Our apprenticeship programme is a vital way to ensure we have a pipeline of skilled trades helping us to provide safe and secure homes for our customers. The support we get from Bradfords Building Supplies is amazing and we can’t thank them enough for this. The tools they supply help our apprentices in kick-starting this early stage of their new careers.”

Bradfords Building Supplies are a long-term supporter of the Aster apprentice programme.

David Cooke, partnership director, at Bradfords Building Supplies said: “Supporting those in communities we serve is core to Bradford’s’ mission.  We know that we need to be helping those who are just starting out in the construction industry – the next generation of those who will be building our future communities, and our partnership with Aster gives us the perfect opportunity to do this, whilst backing an apprenticeship programme which we know delivers quality tradespeople.”
