We’re here to help - make the most of your money in 2021

As 2020 comes to an end, many us will be planning our New Year’s resolutions to set 2021 off to the best start. Our Financial Wellbeing team has shared some resolutions that can help you boost your financial wellbeing in 2021:

1. Create a budget you’re going to stick too

If you’ve had problems budgeting in the past, now is the time to plan. Be clear about what money you have coming in, what needs to be paid and what you have left. The Money Advice Service offer a free online budgeting tool to help you get started.

Our Financial Wellbeing team can also give you budgeting advice and support, get in touch through the MyAster app or on 0333 400 8222.

 2. Check you’re claiming everything you’re entitled to

Our Money Advice Tool can help you check that you’re claiming everything you’re entitled to. There is £12.4 billion of benefits that go unclaimed each year. This includes unclaimed council tax support, employment and support allowance for people off work sick, and tax credits.

3. Start saving

The start of a new year can be a good time to begin planning on ways to save some money. The Money Advice Service can help you plan how much you need to save to reach your goal.

 4. Switch energy suppliers

Our Switch and Save service can help you switch energy suppliers and save money. On average people save £287 on their energy bills a year by switching. Visit us our Switch and Save pages for more information.

5. Pick up the phone if you need support

Although we can make great plans, life can have other plans for us. Please call us if you have any concerns and we’ll try and help. We have a team of expert benefit advisers within our Financial Wellbeing team who can help you, just call 0333 400 8222 or visit MyAster to speak to us.
