Helping the vulnerable

On a recent anti-social behaviour (ASB) visit to one of our schemes in Portland, Dorset, two of our colleagues from the ASB team helped a gentleman who had fallen down and dislocated his hip.

The pair had been carrying out some unannounced door-to-door visits due to reports of anti-social behaviour in the area when they heard the gentleman calling for help.

They called an ambulance and assisted the single crewed driver in getting the gentleman to a safe position so he could be taken to hospital. The resident, who expressed his gratitude, had been on the floor and unable to move for two hours before the knock at his door.

If you have an elderly neighbour, friend or family member remember to look in on them from time to time to check that they’re ok, especially when it’s hot or very cold.
