Claire Perry MP makes return visit to Devizes housing development

Claire Perry, the MP for Devizes was hosted by local housing association Aster Group as she returned for a tour of its finished Hambleton Avenue development.

The MP previously visited the site in June 2018 when it was under construction and had been keen to return and see the finished development, which has provided much needed affordable homes in her constituency.

The development of 38 properties has seen 31 homes offered for shared ownership and seven for affordable rent.

The visit included a walk through the site and a tour of the two remaining unoccupied flats. Aster colleague and Hambleton Avenue resident Lauren, then opened up her property to allow Claire to see one of the houses as a finished home. The MP was impressed to see the quality of the homes, the layout and the quality finish of the finished properties.

Talking about her visit Claire said: “Housing is one of my local priorities and I am very pleased that Aster has built the Hambleton Avenue development of shared ownership and affordable rent properties.

“The new homes are light and bright, make good use of modern energy saving technologies and are very well placed to access many places within the town and further afield.  I hope that all the new residents of Hambleton Avenue are very happy in their new homes.”

Claire was hosted by Aster colleagues Jane Gallifent, development and sales director, and Sarah Durrans, regional director and Paul Mannings, head of commercial at Galliford Try Partnerships – which built the homes.

Jane said: “We’re really pleased to have welcomed Claire Perry back to our Hambleton Avenue site.

“The return visit was a great opportunity for Claire to see the progression of our development since her visit last year when the homes were being built. We hope these visits have provided a good insight into the development process and the work that we’ve done to deliver much needed affordable, new homes in the Devizes constituency.

“It’s really great to see an MP take such a keen interest in local housing issues and investing time to visit and learn about the issues facing our sector and our customers.”

Paul Mannings, Head of Commercial at Galliford Try Partnerships, added:

“It’s fantastic to be on site with our partner Aster Group and to welcome Claire Perry to this high-quality new development. As a partnerships business, we look to build and continue relationships that support our clients and own business plan, and we are very pleased to have played an important role providing these new homes under our framework with Aster Group.”

Aster Group is looking forward to working with Claire Perry MP in the future starting with her local housing event in the summer.
