Aster Group submits plans for land-led scheme in Devizes

Ethical housing developer Aster Group has submitted plans to build 38 new homes in Devizes.

Expanding Aster’s portfolio of land-led opportunities, the 87,000 sq ft scheme will make use of an existing brownfield site originally part of Le Marchant barracks, with Aster in contract to purchase the land from local developer Gaiger Brothers.

Aster’s planned development in Hambleton Avenue will provide a range of one, two and three-bedroom properties.

Planning applications have been submitted to Wiltshire Council, with a decision expected in February. Following approval, it is hoped works on site will commence in Summer 2017.

Martyn Blackman, development director at Aster Group, said: “Hambleton Avenue will create a supply of high quality housing from underused land in a popular area. Purchasing brownfield sites for housebuilding is a key way to help fulfil our commitment to build the UK more homes, and is a focal driver behind our development strategy.

“The UK housing market is suffering from a crippling lack of supply and we’re determined to play our part in solving this crisis, so we’ve outlined £500m of investment into building new homes over the next five years.”
