Aster Group clean up estates in Andover

Three estates in Andover have been cleaned up in time for Christmas thanks to housing association Aster Group,Test Valley Borough Council and garden maintenance company, VPS.

Working together, a team of volunteers set about giving River Way, Pilgrims Way and Cricketers Way in Andover an overhaul, removing weeds, strimming the edges of paths, cutting back shrubbery and hedges, cleaning up the roads and removing litter that had started to build up in the area.

The clean-ups form part of Aster’s plan to create communities to be proud of and it will continue to work in partnership with the council and local contractors to carry out similar clean-ups in other neighbourhoods in the town.

Targeting areas that could do with additional attention Sarah Hobbs, neighbourhood officer at Aster Group said: “We want our customers to be proud of where they live and these clean ups are just one of the ways we can work together to improve the area and make a positive difference to the lives of our customers.

“Many of the estates in Andover are owned and managed by a number of different organisations which can make the maintenance of these areas a challenge. We hope that as well as improving the areas for local residents, the recent clean-ups in River Way, Pilgrims Way and Cricketers Way will also encourage the local community to work with us to help keep these areas tidy and free from litter.”

Work to clean up estates in Andover will continue in the new year with Artists Way and Floral Way next in line.
