Everyone has a home

We are passionate about changing lives. Are you?

Aster exists to have a positive impact on people’s lives by giving them a good quality, safe and secure home. There has never been more pressure on companies like us to help end the UK’s housing shortage. While we know we can’t achieve this entirely on our own, we are committed to doing everything we can. Whether it’s through building more new homes, maintaining the thousands of homes we own, providing good services to our customers or making a commitment to giving back through the work of the Aster Foundation, we aim to carefully balance a commercial approach with our social heart.

Working in a new way

Working in the People & Transformation team, we are responsible for driving change that’s going to have a positive impact right across the business. From developing an engaging and empowering culture to transforming our digital offer, we are well-placed to help unlock new ways of working that positively impact our customers and colleagues.

This is a new department which has brought colleagues with different specialisms across communications, IT, HR and organisational development together. Within the directorate there are three core teams: communications, IT and people. There are also five workstreams: projects, talent acquisition, employee experience, research & innovation and learning, which have been designed to provide opportunities for colleagues to work in a collaborative way.

We need passionate and forward thinking people who will work closely with the senior People & Transformation team and colleagues across the business to collectively drive these areas forward. As we’re sure you’re aware change doesn’t happen overnight or come easily, so anyone joining our team needs to bring energy, determination, resilience and fun to what they do.

Could you help us succeed?

Employee experience lead

Salary range – circa £50k (plus 10% car allowance)

The role

The whole purpose of this workstream is to develop and deliver plans that will ensure colleagues have a great experience working for Aster. We need someone who can help us to re-imagine what this could look and feel like.  It will cover anything from a colleague’s initial onboarding, their involvement, recognition and wellbeing, right through to how we keep in touch if they decide to leave.  You can help shape exactly what is involved and how we move forward.

The person

You could be from any professional background or sector, as the most important thing for us is that you bring energy, ideas and a drive to succeed.  However, the successful candidate must be a natural fit with our culture. It is likely you will be able to demonstrate you:

  • Understand what drives colleagues to do a good job
  • Collaborate well with others and are a relationship builder
  • Are a self-starter who’s comfortable stepping outside your own role to drive innovative thinking and practice across the wider team
  • Are transformational and coaching in your leadership style
  • Role model our culture
  • Are respectful to others and have a strong sense of teamwork
  • Work collaboratively with others to solve problems
  • Display integrity and humility
  • Are highly flexible, adaptable and agile
  • Are influential, innovative and energetic
  • Can break down barriers and push boundaries to make a positive difference
  • Are a great communicator who will regularly ask the difficult questions
  • Focus on outcomes

What’s in it for me?

  • High impact work
  • 26 days' holiday (with an option to purchase more)
  • Full flexibility across our locations including the option to work from home - with a focus on outcomes achieved
  • A fun, energetic and growing team that trusts you and values your opinion
  • Time and opportunities to develop your own skills and career

Then tell us about yourself

We’d like to see two things:

  1. Your CV
  2. A short video (no more than three minutes long) telling us why you feel passionate about the role and why we need to meet you to find out more.  A short video captured on your phone is fine - it doesn’t need to be professional. We want to see the real you.

Please submit your CV and supporting content here. If your CV and video are over 8MB please send it to peopleservices@aster.co.uk via Wetransfer.com and reference the job title in the subject line.

The closing date for this role is midday on Friday 27 October.
