Aster Group secures £240m investment to deliver affordable homes

Aster Group has been selected by Homes England as a Strategic Partner under the government's new Social and Affordable Homes Programme (SAHP). The partnership secures £240 million of investment under the first £10bn wave of funding, to deliver 1,320 social rent and shared ownership homes across the South of England and London.

The announcement sees Aster named among 33 Strategic Partners chosen by Homes England to support the delivery of the government's £39 billion Social and Affordable Homes Programme, the largest investment in social and affordable housing in a generation.

Aster is committed to playing a key role in tackling the country’s housing shortage, by delivering a wide range of high-quality housing options, creating mixed tenure communities that give customers choice, whether looking for an affordable home to rent or an affordable way onto (or back onto) the housing ladder through shared ownership.

Aster’s Strategic Partnership funding is for 60% social rent and 40% shared ownership. These will be delivered across its Development programme comprising of Aster’s own land-led developments, Section 106 opportunities and community-led housing building on Aster’s position as the UK’s leading housing association provide of community land trust partnerships."

During the financial year 2025/2026, Aster delivered 978 homes offering affordable and social rent, shared ownership and open market sale options.
