Aster Group partners with Thakeham to deliver 27 affordable homes in Chertsey

Aster Group, in partnership with Thakeham, one of the leading housebuilders in the South of England, is delivering 27 much-needed affordable homes on a brownfield regeneration site on Station Road, Chertsey.

The former building is being replaced with new homes over three and four storeys, complete with balconies and parking bays.  Demolition of the end-of-life building is now complete, and work has started on the redevelopment.

Comprising a mix of 26 two-bed and one three-bed flats, all the new homes will be available for affordable rent. The properties also incorporate green roofs and solar photovoltaic panels to enhance energy efficiency.

Commenting on the difference affordable homes will make in the area, Amanda Williams, Aster Group Chief Investment Officer said: “Areas like Chertsey offer fantastic locations and strong transport links, but being within the M25 often means high rental and house buying costs that put them out of reach for many people. That’s why delivering genuinely affordable homes in these areas is so important. These new homes will offer a great opportunity for those who want to live and work locally, or benefit from Chertsey’s excellent connections for commuting.”

Conveniently located within the M25 and home to the world-famous Thorpe Park, Chertsey is known for its historic abbey ruins, Georgian architecture and riverside walks.

Thakeham’s Managing Director of Joint Ventures & New Business, Peter Youll, said: “We are delighted to be delivering these new affordable homes in Chertsey on behalf of our valued partner, Aster Group. Thakeham has an established track record of delivering high-quality housing that enhances the local community, and we look forward to breathing new life into Station Road.”

The affordable homes will be allocated by Runnymede Borough Council. To register please head t: https://www.runnymede.gov.uk/help-find-home/apply-social-housing
