New wellbeing launch: ‘Menopause in the Workplace’ on World Menopause Day 18/10/18

“It’s not just the physical symptoms, it’s the effect on your mental health that can cause the greatest challenge in the workplace…” This has been the feedback from several of our colleagues since the launch of our Mental Health agenda in January.

It’s not just ‘women of a certain age’ that can be affected by the menopause, it’s the support network around them, from partners to line managers.

This week marks World Menopause Day so it's the perfect chance to launch our wellbeing priority, ‘Menopause in the Workplace’. This initiative will see us focusing on three key areas for 2019:

  • Provide support and information for women going through the menopause
  • Raise awareness and make it an inclusive topic for the whole business
  • Educate line managers to be aware of the signs and symptoms of the menopause and their role in supporting colleagues to be successful

We’ve recruited ten menopause champions so far who as well as having personal experience of the symptoms and challenges, will be working with a menopause coach and trainers to help support and signpost colleagues. Their contact details will be added onto Space, together with some links to further general information.

How can you help?
As part of the initiative we're going to need some long-sleeved black cardigans, so if you have any lurking at the back of a cupboard that could do with a new home or you just want an excuse to buy a new one, we’d be grateful if you could post it to Julie Cridland at the Oxford Court Hub, Weymouth.

If you have any questions or want to find out more about this new initiative you can email employee experience.
