Checking your boiler

Helping you get your heating and hot water back on sooner.

Better understand what to do if your boiler stops working and what simple checks you can carry out before reporting a repair.

If your heating or hot water suddenly stops working, it can be frustrating. The good news is that sometimes there are a few quick checks you can make that could get your boiler working again without needing to wait for an engineer visit.

One of the most common fixes is resetting your boiler.

A boiler reset can often clear minor faults and restore your heating and hot water. Most boilers have a reset button, although the location can vary depending on the make and model.

To help, we've created a How To Reset Your Boiler guide, which takes you through the process step-by-step.

Before contacting us, we recommend checking:

  • Is your boiler switched on?

  • Does your boiler display an error code?

  • Is your thermostat switched on and set correctly?

  • Is the boiler pressure within the recommended range?

  • Have you tried resetting your boiler?

As well as knowing how to reset your boiler, a little regular maintenance can help keep it running smoothly. Running your heating for a few minutes each month, even during warmer weather, can help prevent parts from seizing up and reduce the risk of breakdowns.

If you've carried out these checks and your boiler still isn't working, or you have any questions, please contact us on 0333 400 8222 and we'll be happy to help.
