Disrepair scams
If you have a repair concern in your home, it's important to speak to us first rather than using a third-party claims company.
The BBC has recently shared a helpful guide highlighting the risks of disrepair scams (the item starts around 13 minutes into the programme). These scams often involve companies contacting tenants out of the blue, offering to help with repairs before encouraging them to make a "no win, no fee" legal claim against their landlord.
While this can sound appealing, these companies aren't always acting in your best interests. In some cases, claims can be passed to solicitors who may charge fees, and customers may even be advised not to allow their landlord access to carry out repairs, which could delay the problem being fixed.
If you have concerns about a repair, damp, mould or any other issue in your home, the best thing to do is let us know as soon as possible. We'll work with you to investigate the issue and put things right. If you're unhappy with the service you've received, please follow our complaints process so we have the opportunity to resolve things.
The BBC's guide explains how these scams work and what you can do to protect yourself.
