Aster highlights domestic abuse support during ASB Awareness Week and summer sporting events

Aster is using ASB Awareness Week (29 June – 5 July) to raise awareness of domestic abuse and anti-social behaviour, reminding customers that support is available throughout a summer packed with major sporting events.

We are encouraging customers to enjoy the action responsibly while remaining mindful of neighbours and recognising the signs that someone may need help.

Research has found that incidents of domestic abuse can increase during major football tournaments, with studies showing reports can rise by as much as 38% following a national team's defeat and by 26% following a win or draw.

At the same time, national policing figures show football-related incidents of violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour increased by 18% during the 2024/25 season, highlighting the continued importance of promoting safe and respectful communities.

Josh Dear at Aster Group, said:

"Sport has an incredible ability to bring people together and create a sense of community. However, we also recognise that major sporting events can be a challenging time for some individuals and families.

"ASB Awareness Week provides an important opportunity to remind people that support is available if they are experiencing anti-social behaviour, harassment or domestic abuse.

"Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home. We want customers to know that if they need support, we're here to listen and help."

Aster's Anti-Social Behaviour Support team works closely with customers experiencing a range of issues, including harassment, intimidation, domestic abuse and other forms of anti-social behaviour.

The team works alongside local authorities, police forces and specialist support organisations to ensure customers receive the support they need, while additional security measures can also be provided where appropriate.

Anyone experiencing anti-social behaviour or domestic abuse is encouraged to report concerns as early as possible so support can be put in place.
