Death of a customer (succession)
Published on:
If a tenant dies, the tenancy will usually transfer to a joint tenant.
If there is no joint tenant, a partner or another member of the household may sometimes be able to take over the tenancy.
This process is called succession.
Succession can only happen once during a tenancy, and the conditions set out in the tenancy agreement must be met. Please contact the Neighbourhood Officer as soon as possible following the tenant’s death. They will provide guidance and support on what to do next.
