If your answer is ’yes’ and you are passionate about your local community, we’d love to hear from you.  We are looking for new members for a number of our customer groups which help us to develop and shape the services we deliver. At the moment we have vacancies in the following groups:

  • The Customer Scrutiny Panel (CSP) members of this group provide an independent and objective assessment of our services and business processes from a customer perspective
  • The Customer Overview Group (COG) helps us to shape services, monitor performance and review key decisions that reflect the priorities of our customers
  • Designated Complaints Panel (DCP) is an independent panel of tenants and leaseholders. It reviews complaints if customers aren't satisfied after completing our internal complaints process

  • How much time will I have to give to be part of a group?

    All of the formal groups have full day quarterly meetings however some groups do require more time commitment than others:

    CSP have additional working groups throughout the year, this can be around 12 depending on the number of scrutinies undertaken. The total time for each scrutiny can vary but sometimes you may need to commit up to 20 hours outside of the normal meetings.

    DCP meet for complaint hearings when required but these are shared out between panel members depending on the region.

    COG only meet four times a year however you need to allow time to prepare for meetings by reading any reports that are being presented.

  • Do I need any previous experience?

    No previous experience is needed as training and support can be given but you must be able to understand customer interests and provide a balanced objective approach to the various topics reviewed. You must also view subjects from a customer and company perspective and understand why offering value for money and added value impact on both Aster and its customers.

  • Do I need any specific skills?

    You need be good at working as part of a team and have good communication skills as you will be working with other panel members and us. You will also need to be computer literate and be able to communicate via email. You may also need to produce documents for review depending on the group. Wewill support you in developing your skills if needed.

  • Do I need to have my own transport?

    No, we will support you in attending meetings however if you do have your own car we will help with any fuel costs incurred.

  • Can I come to a meeting to see if it’s for me?

    Yes, potential new members will be invited to attend as an observer, if you would like to apply then you will have a short interview depending on the group prior to becoming a full member.

  • Can I leave if my circumstances change?

    Yes, all of the group members give their own time to attend and should you no longer be able to commit your time then that is ok, you can talk to the chair of the group and leave at any time.

  • Grounds Maintenance

    We recently completed a tender for our grounds maintenance service in Devon and Cornwall and Dorset and Somerset. We want to ensure that we are providing customers with best value for money whilst retaining a good service for grounds maintenance services such as grass cutting, shrub border maintenance and hard surface maintenance.

     We are now at stage two of the section 20 consultation. You will have received a letter advising you of the outcome of the recent tender process for grounds maintenance in your area. If you would like to view the estimates we have received, please contact our Plymouth office to arrange a viewing.

    Observations must be made by 13 February 2017.  Any comments received after this date will not be considered. Written observations should be sent to Section 20 Officer, Sarsen Court, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 2AZ.   • External redecoration – North Somerset, Bristol and Bath

    We will be undertaking cyclical maintenance works including pre-painting repairs on some properties in North Somerset, Bristol and Bath. Those homes affected have been notified and residents should now have received a Stage 1 section 20 consultation letter to that affect.

    Residents wishing to submit a formal observation have until 10 February 2017.  Any comments received after this date will not be considered. Written observations should be sent to Section 20 Officer, Sarsen Court, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 2AZ. Alternatively you can email observations to observations@aster.co.uk.

  • Remedial works Kingsway Gardens, Andover

    We have worked closely with local residents to undertake a tender process to appoint a contractor to carry out essential remedial work on five blocks of flats (Atholl Court, Saxon Court, Stuart Court, Tudor Court and York Court) in Kingsway Gardens, Andover.

    The deadline for tenders has now passed and we have received three bids from prospective contractors from whom the final contractor will be selected to carry out all work required. In accordance with the section 20 process we are now in stage two, formal consultation with residents. Residents have until 26 January 2017 to submit their observations to us by emailing observations@aster.co.uk.

    We understand that the costs involved and the disruption to residents is significant, however work carried out now will mean less impact and lower costs to residents in the future. Our dedicated housing officer, Christine Alexander will continue to provide support and advice to residents throughout the process.

  • Efficiency Savings Working Group

    As part of our focus on value for money we are constantly working with customers and Aster staff to look at how we can become more efficient. The group will consider the benefits and implications of putting ideas into effect.
