Gender Pay Gap Report
We are serious about creating the best possible environment for our people to thrive and feel at home doing their best work.
Right at the heart of that is a belief that a person’s ability to do their job is what is important, not their gender, age, sexuality or any other personal factor.
We are determined that this will be reflected at all points in the employee journey, from recruitment, internal promotion and opportunities to learn, to how much we pay our people for the work they do. We firmly believe in creating a culture that allows us to attract, retain and support each and every one of our colleagues. Our people promise which includes our behaviours framework, The Aster Way, and our people plan which embeds inclusion throughout, underpins everything we do.
Our progress in closing the gender pay gap is one way of tracking how we’re doing to nurture a positive workplace for our teams. The overall trend for 2024 is a more positive outlook, with the gender pay gap across the Group going down since last year.
- Our average Group-wide gender pay gap for 2024 was 13.86% down from 15.2% in 2023, compared to a national average gap of 13.1%.
- When we break this down by the different brands in our business:
- Aster Group was 12.79% (down from 17.17% in 2023),
- Central and Cecil Housing Trust (C&C) it was 8.22% (down from 16.18% in 2023),
- Aster Property was 10% (up from 7.2% in 2023)
- and for Aster Communities it was 16.59% (down from 17.98% in 2023).
Even though it’s encouraging to see the pay gap reducing, we recognise there is still more work to be done. That’s why we’ve been working through our Action Plan which brings together culture, reward, recruitment and progression, talent and data to make positive change across our Group.

Economic Impact Report
Because we sit at the heart of society, we believe it’s important to measure our impact in as tangible a way as possible to understand our business, ensure our strategy is relevant, help us make positive contributions to society and fulfil our business objectives.
To calculate the true economic impact of our activities, market analysis consultant, Development Economics Ltd, has reviewed our work to measure the success of our strategy to build new homes and provide vital services to our communities.
