We are improving the Mental wellness and social connectivity of 400,000 people by 2030.

Did you know there is a strong connection between people on lower incomes and the likelihood of developing and experiencing mental health problems.  According to the Mental Health Foundation, children and adults living in households in the lowest 20% income bracket are two to three times more likely to develop mental health problems than those in the highest.  Those on housing benefit are more than twice as likely to have a common mental health problem than those not receiving it (35.1% vs 14.9%).

We’ve created a programme of support to address this and have an experienced psychotherapist who leads our growing work in this area, supported by our expert associates and skilled volunteers.

What do we offer?

We improve the workplace wellness and skills of those who work with people in poverty.

Strengthen the community infrastructure to increase local support for those in poverty.

Improve the mental wellness and social connectivity of individuals or families dealing with the causes and effects of poverty.

“Most of my experience of the issues is through mental illness in my family.  Thank-you for helping me.”

“Interesting course content very well presented. I teach a child carer - the content of this course will help me understand her and her attitude and hopefully I can help her more in the future.”

“Thank you. I really enjoyed the course and your lovely, humorous and engaging presentation. I would recommend this for everyone who works with people of all ages and wishes to improve their level of understanding, empathy and social skills. I feel a little more knowledgeable and better informed.”

“I just want to thank you and the Aster Foundation so much for the mental health training you are delivering at St James Church in Devizes the recipients of your training have hugely benefited by the training that they have received. I am particularly glad that so many of our volunteer team leaders, those running children, youth and small groups, have attended. Your training has given them the tools and confidence they previously have felt they lacked.”
