Aster Foundation Privacy Notice

The Aster Foundation was created by us to give something back. It’s the work we choose to do over and above our landlord and development activities.

We know we can make the most difference to our customers and local people by helping them to discover and grow their digital skills, supporting individuals through financial challenges, building employability and inspiring pride across our communities. 

Why we collect and store personal information

In order for the Aster Foundation to help our customers, Aster needs to collect, process and store personal information about you and other household members*.

The lawful basis is:

▪     legitimate interests of Aster

▪     legitimate interests of the individual concerned

on some occasions, we may need to rely on the lawful basis of your consent.

When you provide information about household members,we assume that you do so with their full knowledge and consent.

 

Who we share your data with

If you consent, we may share your information with work officers, employers, course providers, charities and financial wellbeing services.  This list is not exhaustive as there may be other circumstances where we may share your personal information, but it will always be done with your consent.

How long information is kept for

Aster Foundation will only collect and retain the personal data it needs for each specified purpose and will periodically review whether aspects of data sets can be minimised so individuals (data subjects) are no longer identifiable. 

If you are an existing Aster customer, your information will be held with your tenancy file and will be subject to the same retention periods.

If you use the services of the Aster Foundation but are not an Aster customer information will be retained for the minimum time possible in order to provide a service to you, and  not exceeding 6 years from your last date of contact with us.

Diversity monitoring information

Aster Foundation is committed to understanding the needs of its communities and so may collect diversity monitoring information from you when you apply for a service.  This will be anonymised upon receipt and solely used for statistical / community insight purposes.

When you apply for volunteering opportunities with us 

All of our volunteering opportunities are managed through a secure third party platform which links up volunteers with our community groups.   If you want to be involved in our volunteering opportunities you will need to register your details on our volunteering platform Aster VIP.  When you register your interest in an opportunity your contact details will then be shared with the relevant community group who will arrange your volunteering placement directly with you. 

Your personal details will be used solely for the purposes of facilitating volunteering opportunities on behalf of the Aster Foundation and will not be used for any other purpose other than anonymised statistical reporting.
