Tackling mould and condensation
Mould can happen when there’s too much moisture in the air. The main reasons that moisture is produced is steam from cooking and bathing, as well as washing and drying your laundry. You can follow these tips to reduce the amount of condensation in your home:
- Cook with pan lids on
- Reduce your shower time to five minutes and keep the bathroom door shut
- Fill your bath with the cold water first then add the hot - it will reduce the steam by 90%
- Hang your washing outside to dry, or hang it in the bathroom with the door closed and a window slightly open or extractor fan on
- If you use a tumble drier, make sure it is vented to the outside or that it is a condenser.
