Learning first hand

Ryan John has been an apprentice with us since September last year and is learning first-hand what it takes to be a plumbing and gas engineer.

Working with our Dorset colleagues, the 25-year-old studies one day a week for an NVQ Level 2 in plumbing at Bournemouth and Poole College, and four days a week on the job.

Of his experience, he said: “I wanted to take this opportunity to develop my career in a trade that I really enjoy and I knew I’d learn a lot with the experienced engineers the business has.

“Apprenticeships give you so much more experience. Being on a one–to-one basis with an engineer means it’s easier to ask questions and get involved.”

On graduating and finishing his apprenticeship he wants to pursue a career in the plumbing and gas industry.
