Mental health training

Supporting mental health in young people

Training for organisations who work with young people and schools

Supporting young people to look after their mental health begins with understanding. Our training will teach you and the young people you work with the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues, offer mental health first aid and guide towards the support they need. In doing so, you can speed up a young person’s recovery and stop a mental health issue from getting worse.

We’ll work alongside you to deliver training that’s right for you and your organisation.

Quality assured

All our courses are delivered by a qualified Instructor who has completed the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.

Safe

Our instructors provide a safe, inclusive learning environment and are trained to support people throughout the whole course. We will support you in all stages of your journey, from identifying current gaps to empowering your teams to take the necessary steps toward your goals for mental health.

All employees & volunteers

Mindfulness is the quality of being present and fully engaged with whatever we’re doing in the moment, free from distraction or judgment, and aware of our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. We train in this moment-to-moment awareness through meditation, allowing us to build the skill of mindfulness so that we can then apply it to everyday life.

When you induce a state of relaxation, which can be achieved through mindfulness, another kind of meditation, or other activities, you can reap the benefits, including:

  • Increased immune function
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Lowered heart rate
  • Increased awareness
  • Increased attention and focus
  • Increased clarity in thinking and perception
  • Lowered anxiety and stress levels

Researchers Taylor and Millear (2016) found that mindfulness helps employees construct a buffer between their work and becoming burned out reducing staff turnover and increasing a greater sense of wellbeing in the workplace.

This introductory session is delivered on a face to face basis over 45 minutes and is an excellent addition to our stress and resilience in the workplace course.
